Behind the Lens & AI: Reimagining Qasr Al Hosn
Having spent years documenting Abu Dhabi’s Qasr Al Hosn, every archway and historic nuance of the landmark is deeply familiar to me. Entering the Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Centre’s ‘Image As Witness’ competition was a natural step, specifically the Digital Editing category, which called for reimagining an original photograph of the fort without creative constraints.
Inspired by the living history of the annual Qasr Al Hosn Festival, I conceptualized a four-part narrative featuring historic "echoes" of Bedouin life, campfire poetry, majlis council gatherings, dusk encampments, and traditional pearl divers, seeping through the contemporary restored structures.
By merging my architectural photography with generative AI tools and surgical compositing, I anchored each scene in archival accuracy while layering semi-transparent figures over the fort's modern stonework. I am thrilled and honored to share that this series took 1st Place in the Digital Editing Category at the 35th Abu Dhabi International Book Fair, marking a deeply rewarding bridge between real-world architectural photography and modern digital workflows.
