'IMAGE AS WITNESS' PHOTOGRAPHY COMPETITION AND HOW I CREATED A WINNING SUBMISSION

Behind the Lens & AI: Reimagining Qasr Al Hosn

Having spent years documenting Abu Dhabi’s Qasr Al Hosn, every archway and historic nuance of the landmark is deeply familiar to me. Entering the Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Centre’s ‘Image As Witness’ competition was a natural step, specifically the Digital Editing category, which called for reimagining an original photograph of the fort without creative constraints.

Inspired by the living history of the annual Qasr Al Hosn Festival, I conceptualized a four-part narrative featuring historic "echoes" of Bedouin life, campfire poetry, majlis council gatherings, dusk encampments, and traditional pearl divers, seeping through the contemporary restored structures.

By merging my architectural photography with generative AI tools and surgical compositing, I anchored each scene in archival accuracy while layering semi-transparent figures over the fort's modern stonework. I am thrilled and honored to share that this series took 1st Place in the Digital Editing Category at the 35th Abu Dhabi International Book Fair, marking a deeply rewarding bridge between real-world architectural photography and modern digital workflows.

NISI JETMAG PRO MAGNETIC FILTER SYSTEM

The Nisi Jetmag Pro Magnetic Filter System is a game-changer: sleek, lightweight, and stupidly easy to use. Its magnetic design snaps filters into place instantly—no threading, no fumbling. The whole setup is compact enough for a jacket pocket, yet sturdy enough for rugged shoots. Pair it with an adapter ring, and it’ll fit virtually any lens without bulk or hassle.

Image quality? Flawless. Stack multiple filters and still get razor-sharp details, true-to-life colors, and zero vignetting—even on wide-angle glass. No weird color casts, no softness, just clean results every time. For filmmakers and photographers (especially those battling finicky lenses like Fuji’s TS 30mm), the Jetmag Pro kills filter headaches dead. Zero downsides, all upside. Trust me, your bag (and your workflow) will thank you.
